Ebook Readers for PC computers

This site is really intended for ebooks on hand held computer platforms, but you can read ebooks on your PC too.

Free Readers
Open Office

Free Office suite with versions for Linux, Windows and Macintosh. Reads Word Documents, RTF, SXW, HTML, and TXT.

Palm Reader
Palm Reader has a free reader for your PC now too. It lets you read palm reader pdb files and palm doc files on your PC! They have free versions for both Windows and Macintosh and you can run the Windows version in Linux using Wine too. I tried it to make sure. So no matter what platform you use, there is probably a version that will work on your system.

WordPad
Simple, but comes free with Windows. Chances are you already have it. Reads ASCII text and RTF

Adobe Acrobat Reader
Adobe is a great free reader for the PC. Adobe files can maintain almost any formatting a normal printed book would have, so virtually nothing is lost in its electronic form. Although the reader is free, Adobe's converter is not. There are free converters out there though. If you get a book in PDF format already, you can download a free copy of Acrobat Reader from Adobe for Windows or Macintosh systems. They even have a special ebook reader as well. Most Linux distributions already come with a PDF viewer as well.

EasyDoc - Lets you read PalmDOC files on your PC or so I have heard. Palmreader does too so I have never tried EasyDoc.

You can read HTML formatted documents in your web browser
Mozilla - Open Source browser project
Internet explorer - Microsofts standard browser. Comes free with Windows.
Netscape - Netscapes Browser.

Other Readers
Microsoft Word

If you insist on paying for something you can get for free. Then you can buy Microsoft Word. Open Office is free though and will read anything Word will, so you might want to check it out first.
